seven young Irish found sleeping rough under Kilburn railway bridge

shocking story = we're really back to the 80s now

Lost in London: seven young people from Limerick found sleeping rough under Kilburn railway bridge - Limerick Leader

The five men and two women, all under the age of 20, recently approached the center having found themselves unemployed after working for a short period.

The London Irish Center has confirmed to the Limerick Leader that seven people from Limerick were recently found living under a bridge in London. But they refused the offer of repatriation – paid for by the center – to come home.

i know your " youngdan "s and toughbutfair guys will argue thats life and better life through hard work
but some people do fall on hard times through no fault of their own, and it seems that looking after banks and big builders is more important

This was on Moncrieff's show the other day - the lads concerned actually refused offers of help and shelter (that was in the Summer - the Irish Centre's representative said the winter would have changed their minds). He said they were offered help going back home but they didn't want to go. He also said that they arrived totally unprepared, without the money to help them through transition before getting jobs and accomodation. Kilburn isn't really Irish any more. It's completely different from when I knew it 15 or 20 years ago.

When did I say looking after the banks and builders was the right to do. If you knew anything about it you would know it is not the builders who are been looked after but the bondbonders.

How do you propose caring for 7 yahoos who refuse to come home and collect the dole when you live in a fantasy yourself.

No we are not. The economy is several times the size it was in the 1980's. Unemployment-benefit is double that of the UK. The economy contracted 10% last year and may decline 1% this year. That compares to a doubling of the size of the economy in 1996-2007. Also unlike the 1980's, this is a global-recession. The streets of London and New York are not paved with gold.

You are right..it's actually worse than the 80's.

In the 80's there were never more than 300,000 out of work.

That meant it was easier to find jobs for the unemployed.

Now there are 430,000 unemployed. That's an additional 130,000 we must find employment for and makes it harder for the unemployed since a lot more competition.

Every unemployed person also has to compete against thousands of immigrants for jobs. And remember most unemployed Irish people paid tens if not hundreds of thousands in tax to Ireland to fund the lifestyle of Brian Cowen and pals.

And now they have to compete against migrants most of whom didn't pay one cent in tax to Ireland.

    Who'd be a patriot?

The 7 irish are right not to come home.

Ireland under FF is just a bananna republic and will always be.

    Unlike in Britain, of course.

Before every socialist and lefty goes into deep guilt trauma and starts attacking the capitalist system, it would be useful to note that these were all under 20 and were probably not planning to spend the rest of their lives sleeping under that bridge.
Perhaps Mammy forgot to wire them some money or they spent it all on drink.
    Relax all ....
