St. Patrick was a Roman Catholic and said Mass.

Some geezer in Dundalk put a fourleafed clover in A St. Patricks Day ad for his shopping centre in Dundalk. This made Liveline - I know, I know - and drew enraged comments. People who rang in were absolutely certain that St. Patrick was a Roman Catholic who said mass.
Liveline aside, who teaches this stuff in schools ? Priests ? Teachers?

What did St Patrick say when he was driving the snakes out of Ireland?

I heard some of that Live Line piece and felt sorry for the guy. He sounded shell shocked by the reaction he got. Can't blame him. Given the stuff that's going on in the country its an incredibly trivial issue for people to get worked up about.

Liveline's usual magnificent public service radio.

The fella was not even the facade of a public institution (some posters will understand that reference) he was just a guy trying to make a living.

Someone in RTÉ should take the producer and give them a good shake. Throwing the poor fella to the mob like that.

Well he certainly wasn't a Protestant..

He was a Roman citizen, accepted the authority of the Pope, as did his predecessor in Ireland by a year, Palladius. The only people who don't think he said Mass are people who believe 18th Century Protestant propaganda...

I don't think he actually drove the snakes out though. Like the good little Catholic bishop he was, he probably just moved them around from parish to parish without telling any one...

I didn't hear the radio programme in question but have heard plenty of references to it. What was the issue with the 4-leaved clover?

What is Mass, can anyone tell me. Do many Catholics believe that bread and wine is turned into flesh and blood. Who knows if Patrick said it. And does anyone believe that Patrick visited every parish in Ireland, opened new wells etc. And did he climb Croagh Patrick ,spend 40 days there and drive the snakes out of Ireland, and ask that he be allowed to judge the Irish on the last day. If so, there is some hope for crooked politicians and bankers/builders, as one of ther biggest sins is to come down heavy on the poor as they have done. And as regards sex offenders, will be drive them into the sea like the snakes.
You'd think Kenny committed Treason and brought in IMF. Cowen had all in stitches in Galway at 3.30a.m.but he was "not impaired" -DD Power. FF=Publican páirtí an IMF.

He used a four-leaf clover in his Patrick's Day ads for his shopping centre. When he was asked why he didn't use the shamrock he was silly enough to say he wanted to be inclusive. Then the poor fella was dragged to the court of Irish public opinion under the auspices of that well-known arm of the justice system known as Liveline.
