The second link features a senior Church figure resorting to the crudest Godwinism against Der Spiegel magazine. Comparing anyone to a Nazi is utterly taboo in German public life. It leads to immediate resignation in most cases.
The Church in Germany is imploding to the same extent it is in Ireland. Josef's brother George's penchant for uncontrolled and severe (and apparently illegal) corporal punishment is set to make things even hotter over the next few days.
Ratzinger's long-time running of the Congregation for the Faith, which was the sole congegration (ministry) responsible for dealing with sexual abuse allegations, has the potential to eventually hang him (by which I mean either precipitate his resignation or comprehensively disgrace him).

Infallibility seems to be nearing an end. Is Ratzinger the fabled 'black pope' that would bring down the catholic church? Ironically it was an Irish prophet, St. Malachy that seems to have predicted it. Unfortunately end of days is meant to follow. Hopefully only for the catholic church though!
Patsy McGarry reckons the Irish church is irredeemably damaged on the one hand, and that, on the other, the story emanating from Munich (that the pope was overruled by an underling when the latter decided to put a paedophile priest to work in a parish) was utterly unbelievable to anyone who knew how the then Archbishop and present pope did his work.
Sensible man Patsy!
