The very asking of such a question indicates either a profound ignorance of Irish social history or an antipathy to Irish pub culture.

It has been my experience that those with an antipathy to Irish pub culture are usually non -drinkers often pioneers.
In some cases even the children of alchoholics.

It if course remains a posibility that you meriwethr may not be Irish at all.

Perhaps meriweather you might care to explain your abysmally ignorant remark ?
    It was a question.

I asked a poster a question about his statement.

I neither endorsed his statement, nor disagreed with it. I wanted some more clarification on it, and his opinion on it.

It strikes me that you misinterpreted my question, because most likely, you are a bit thick.

Go back, and read it, slowly.

Your trying to wriggle out of it now.

It was a rhetorical question asserting a very specific viewpoint without the expectation of a reply.

All you do then is abuse me for showing up either your obvious anti drink /anti pub predjudice or your complete ignorance of Irish social history.

    No, it was a question.

Your interpretation of it is that it was a rhetorical question.

Your misinterpretation is an inevitable result of your idiocy.
