Perhaps because neither were priests. Thats probably why the lack of attention to the story. Two men working, voluntarily, in the vatican. One in the choir and the other in a kind of "major domo" role. Sure if you have an orginisation of a couple of thousand you are bound to find such things occationally. The Commandant of the Swiss Guard committed suicide several years ago after killing both his wife and her young, Swiss Guard, lover. These things happen.

The Vatican was today rocked by a sex scandal reaching into Pope Benedict's household after a chorister was sacked for allegedly procuring male prostitutes for a papal gentleman-in-waiting.
Angelo Balducci, a Gentleman of His Holiness, was caught

The clergy seem remarkably well informed. And well connected. I mean, as an ordinary Joe, I really struggle to find a homosexual prostitution ring whenever I need one. One rule for the rich and powerful, another for us normal folk. Sod's law I guess.
