Should Bertie get a tax exemption for his book?

He should. In terms of self-deprecating political satire, it's right up there with 'Gulliver's Travels' and 'Animal Farm' etc. Just because he was the Buffoon's Buffoon as a Taoiseach doesn't necessarily mean he's not a literary genius. Only in Ireland would readers have failed to appreciate that Bertie De Oughter never intended for his fictional autobiography to be taken seriously.

As a work of fiction; it must have some artistic merit!

Did anyone actually buy this gick. I've never heard of anyone that did.

Maybe this "buke" will be rescued by the Minister for Education and two copies will be bought for every secondary school in the Country, like yer man Ferriter's De Valera apologist "book".

The only good thing about this would be: once it becomes associated with school, people will not only not read it, they will hate it: just like the Irish language really.
