Ive been searching Google to see if they exist.
There's only a few refrences I can find and theyre in America.
Are there any Irish Athiest politicians, and if not then why not?
What would be the political ramifications of a Political leader or politician declaring him/herself Athiest?
How do you know there are none?

I want to know if there are any and what people think would happen if one declared themselves athiest?
I think Jim Kemmy, Justin Keating and Thomas MacGiolla were all atheists.
I don't see what the relevance of religion is to being a politician, so why would any of them declare it? I suppose in a predominantly christian country, most would be of a christian persuasion?

They keep it to themselves for electoral reasons. There is a lot of prejudice out there against atheists,particularly the one that holds they are immoral since the do not believe in god of gods
Nick Clegg, leader of the Lib Dems in GB is openly atheist.
Most of them believe they are the God of Gods.
Despite what we like to tell ourselves, when it comes down to it, there aren't really very many athiest voters.Why no Athiest Politicians?
