You mean the French, surely. I feel no shame about it (though I disagree with it).

had the FAI not made world sporting hisotry he may well have had to feign it a little , but not now
No, he was pulling a stroke, typical of the type of chancer he is. FIFA have far more to feel ashamed of than the FAI do (and I'm not a fan of the FAI's self-important committee-fodder).

It gives me no pleasure in saying it but I think R. Keane of Cork may have got it right: it's time to move on. There is zero chance of Ireland getting any change out of that corrupt shlt Blatter. So the best approach should be to retain some dignity and forget it.

Not sure what all the fuss is about. Blatter maybe was silly to laugh, but it was a reactionary laugh to the entire room cracking up. It was a ridiculous request from the FAI.

Laughing Stock is usually a just metaphor for the situation you are in, but only the FAI could make this country an actual laughing stock.

Asking for a replay showed a hard neck, but we had the sympathy of the world after Henrys blatant cheating. Asking to be brought to the World Cup without actually qualifying for it - well I cringed in embarrassment when I heard that.

Seriously, are there that many deluded people in this country who think "scoring 1 goal" or "playing well" constitutes qualification. Even if Henrys handball had been spotted we still would have had the rest of extra time and penalties to get through.

Don't let the fact that Blatter is a corrupt and nasty buffoon take away from the fact that Delaney should resign.

Predictable reactions in today's papers. The Indo and the Times seem to parrot the official FAI line, that they were somehow surprised by Blatter's actions, and somehow, that not putting this ludicrous request in writing, makes it any less of a request. Or that a notorious operator like Blatter wouldn't use it, for whatever nefarious idea that comes into his mind at the time.

In contrast, the red tops are hilarious, and a lot more sceptical about both Blatter and the FAI. The Sun calling him "Septic Bladder". The Star has a photo-shopped picture of John Delaney. It's the funniest thing I've seen in a while. It just looks so real.
