Pat Shortt tops the poll again

So Killinaskully topped the ratings this Christmas again. 800,000 watched it. Can anyone explain why? I mean, i tried this year, I really did. I watched about 10 minutes of it and never raised a smile let alone a laugh.

I remember a discussion last year in which the usual Dublin vs. The Rest argument came out, but I don't buy that. I thought the old D'Unbelievables stuff was great, I loved Father Ted, and some great stand up comedians have based their act on rural Irish topics. But this just is not funny. I presume of the 800,000 viewers, many were urban dwellers. I just don't understand this. is it a crusty oul Dub thing on my part? Is it a generational thing? is it just coz fck all else was on? PLease explain where the popularity lies...

Related to this, I thought Bachelor's Walk, the Just for Laughs show and the Panel were all great...
We need to radically change every system that has enabled the wholesale destruction of the Irish landscape, rural and urban. There is no time for incremental step by step measures. The systems have failed utterly and the only hope for a real recovery requires the rule book to be torn up completely.

I would love to see Pat reprise his role as Maurice Hickey from eXit poll 2002. Priceless. And politically very good too!
Dan Sullivan. I was back but we still couldn't all have a vote.

No it's not just you. I'm from a rural background and like D'unbelievables etc. but I think Killnascully is crap. It's just so bland and dull and depends way too much on lame stereotypes, rather than any real good dialogue or characters. Bring back Jon Kenny I say!

The first series of killinascully was very good but it went downhill from there.
Too much like "last of the summer wine".
"still , got to give it to the people of monaghan, they dont take any **** "--constitutionus
