Indeed Donie. It has to be something everyone buys in to.

To get the ball rolling, I see that Cllr. Daly is calling for increased MABS representation in Youghal (youghalonline.com refers). A welcome move, and sorely needed in these times.
MABS do superb work and are needed now more than ever ,well done Donie.

Good to see our local councillor(s) fighting of any small bit of tourism that might come our way.

Only to be shot down in today's paper

WTF? Why would someone be silly enough to write a letter attempting to dismiss a vital part of a towns history? A few minutes. Pity he didn't take a few minutes to think before he wrote off. Schmuck.

In fairness, the article that Donie first refered to was about films that were predominantly shot in one location, i.e. Ryan's Daughter. However, the Filming of Moby Dick in Youghal, however minute its part, is something that yawlies take great pride in.

Yes, I can understand the 'technical' point, but its obvious Daly was only attempting to boost Youghal's profile. I can understand a Dub writing in to point out the bleeding obvious, but a Youghal man? Why bother?

    +1

    Completely agree.

Anything new or exciting from our other councillors.

Indeed. I'd commend Donie (and I have no connection with the chap bar interaction online-or the Labour party for that matter) for shaking things up* in a very positive and enthusiastic sense since taking on the role. Pity to have such efforts shot down by "one of our own" however. 'Twas ever thus in Youghal!

I've heard good things too about our other new councillor, in respect of their efforts on local committees and the like, positive vibes, nothing worthy of the front page, but still commendable.

(*a reference to the tradition of backslapping, and the holding of functions every time they change the kitty litter in Mall House-about time someone said it-and a little more diplomatically than I just did )
