No thats Murph and the no longer posting "Pussy" who posted using Murphs i.d. one day pre-election.
Not that it really matters, more than one person can use a pc in a house, there is no limit to the interesting opinions who should express themselfs online.
More power to them.
As for Inside Cobh, I've never purchased it but I have read it.
A quality "Neutral" community news letter is needed and I think it is capeable of being supported on the Island, even a community website would be a good idea along the same format, with photographs and announcements and the like.
Perhaps the political games and opinions should be left to politics.ie and word of mouth.
feel free to try there sinner lad,try and post praising a local mag that promotes all local activities and all of a sudden you are accusing me on being K Mac,does your small mind not allow you to actually think that there are non SF people who buy and also enjoy IC,I dont hear you running down the GICN/LAB/FG mag.
For your info sinner im not K Mac or a relation or a member of SF but your warped little mind wont allow you to understand that.
I buy Inside Cobh every week and think it's a fairly good publication. I don't always agree with everything in it but it has always allowed right to reply to everyone - if some people are too thick to use it then that's their loss.
GICN reminds me of a church magazine - half the time it's about Sister so-and-so raising funds in India or some old fogey on about flowers in the church. This week's issue has a piece praising some guy who dressed up as Jesus for Corpus Christi.![]()
As important the issue of Jesus impersonators is, on more political matters, the emergency meeting of the town council to discuss the expansion of the board of carrignafoy, took place at 2.30pm today (our committee got 5 minutes notice but thankfully we managed to get a rep there along with our rep with the new hat - Cllr Martin) Mary Ryan shot down the proposed addition of users on the basis only she can expand the make up of the board, from my lay knowledge of company law this is wrong and we will be challenging her on it, she has picked the wrong fight with the wrong people !
The council meeting was convened to discuss having 2 from user group, a staff member, a leisure expert and a member of business association added to the board of carrignafoy leisure as proposed by Mick Martin and Kieran McCarthy, Mary Ryan stated that she and she alone could appoint board members and that the shareholders have no say at and it was left for Mick to go away and check this out legally. Apart from our usual supporters aka Mick and Kieran we got very strong support from Sinead Sheppard,Quinlan sat on the fence, Whitty went along with what the town manager said despite his committement in response to the 11 questions), O'Driscoll was some what positive, Histon offered no opinion (although in his response to the 11 questions he offered to be the one tabling this motion) whilst Seanie and Mulvihill jnr were not present.
This will be dealt with and we will get that board expanded, Mary Ryan is not cobh Town Council nor is she she the people of Cobh, we have very simple demands on the back of the debacle earlier this year, so its now time our elected representatives and the unelected officals (puppetmasters) start putting the people of Cobh first.
Same shyte as usual, all trying to outdo each other with petty political point scoring instead of working together for the betterment of the town.
They were all elected by the people (by whatever means) to represent the people, is that so hard for them to comprehend.
They were not ellected by their party whips.
Not quiet sure what you were trying to say in your post there Breezy. It wasnt a question of the elected members trying to outdo each other. todays meeting was called after a motion tabled at the recent AGM by Cllr McCarthy for the sole purpose of expanding the board of carrignafoy leisure Ltd to accomodate further transparency and accountability.
The elected members for once werent *************************ing with each other (no Mullies in the room) but a couple had a few heated words with the manager because of her entrenched iron fist approach. The position she addopted was so unnessary and is likely to come back to haunt her, and she must have known that Martin and McCarthy will come back and possibly take it to the courts if neccessary as her ruling today is clearly in breach of company law. The Mayor couldnt close the meeting fast enough, showing himself to be very uncomfortable also.
On the back of today's antics I put in arequest to the cro for all documents lodged by Carrignafoy Leisure and unlike many arms of government this service is highly efficent, so I know have read all the relevant data and am certain there is no legal impediment to the proposal put before today's meeting.
