This looks like an interesting one.

I wouldn't write off either O'Suilleabhan or Leahy though its unlikely that both will get it.

Agree with O'Rourke, Healy, Daly, and John O'Sullivan. The word on Hurley is good and that would represent real achievement for an independent. He's a good lad thats being toiling away at community level for years. Surely if elected he'd have to see off Collins.

Doubt that Fianna Fail would drop to one seat so young Christy will probably be ok despite the Australia sojourn.

Declan Hurley will get votes right accross the Electoral Area. TJ Farrell will have a large transfer to Collins. Alos, Leahy's dunmanway vote vote will transfer to Collins

Certainly looks like that. Somewhat surprising as I would have thought that awareness of him outside Dunmanway would be pretty limited. He hasn't had a profile or platform or party machine.

A welcome change in any event.

It'll be interesting to see if he'll revert to FG in due course.

if FG vote management works (i.e voter voting for the FG candidate wo canvass them), FG could get Four and Declan Hurley, which would in effect be 5 FG votes for Mayor

Expect to see Daly ( F.G ), O Sullivan ( F.G. ) and Healy ( F.G. ) easily elected - also O Rourke ( F.F. ). Remaining 3 seats will be between O Sullivan ( F.F.), Carroll ( F.F. ), Collins ( F.G. ), Leahy ( Lab ) and O Suilleabhain (S.F. ). Think one of the F.F. ( probably Carroll ) and Collins may lose out. O Suilleabhain was close the last time and may just scrape in. Likewise Leahy would have been close the last time but was stabbed in the back by the Senator. The independents Kearney ( Baltimore/Skibbereen ) and Hurley ( Dunmanway ) will poll well in their own areas but are unknowns further afield. Waugh ( Greens ) will also get a respectable vote.

Met Joe Carroll when I was down there at the weekend. Had seen his posters so assumed he was independent. My cousin who lives there thought he was too. Will he get many votes based on that?

Joe Carroll is very popular around Skibbereen and Dunmanway especially with the bowling and trotting fraternity. However he will lose a lot of votes to Kearney. These may revert to him at a later stage. I think it may come down to himself and Leahy for the final ' Skibbereen ' seat.

I'm not sure Leahy's vote will transfer. If he doesn't get elected, I'd say he'll probably be the candidate stranded in 8th place whose votes don't transfer on.

I'm not so sure that O'Rourke is as safe as you think. I understand that he has had a very negative response on the doors. I think FF could be down to one County Councillor (i.e. Christopher O'Sullivan) in the Skibb area come Saturday evening. It must also be noted that there are three other candidates pulling out of Clon and in my humble opinion Jim Daly has it well sown up.

I think Jim Daly will top the poll, followed by John O'Sullivan, Adrian Healy and Christopher O'Sullivan. The last three seats will be fought over by Hurley, Leahy, Collins and Carroll.

I don't see O'Rourke in the picture at all. I think he is very vulnerable, and the fact that he has pulled Joe Walsh out for his advert in this week's Southern Star makes me think that he is well aware of it.

One thing for sure is that tomorrow will be interesting.
