    Racist Posters in Cork

Im just posting to ask fellow Corkonians and Indeed other Irish People akind if they are noticing a large surge in Racist, White Supremacist and offesive posters and stickers being placed at points throughout our city? or am I just imagining it.

Last Night I was drinking in Turners Cross and on my way down to the pub noticed a number of Posters placed at strategically noticable points of the area (ie Outside the shops, Outside the soccer stadium & at the Crossroads itself) by some group calling itself the White Greyhounds or white youths (not entirely sure what their name is). I have previously seen scattered numbers of such filth in area's around cork but these weren't as noticalbe.

What are the opinions of others here on this issue?

So have I - they have appeared in other parts of the city and county too - I've seen them in Kinsale and Cobh too. Strange there's so many off them in the Turner's Cross area - wasn't there a racist candidate in that area in an election a while ago?

Yes there was Poldoski, Its unfortunate to hear that they are appearing as far off as cobh and Kinsale. Ted Neville of the Immigration Control Platform is the Name of the guy your thinking of. He Lives in the Ballyphehane area and I immediatly suspected him of playing a part in this poster placing.

Oh and Tradcat- good on ya man. I took down 3 of them in my area though there still are a few up.

The Bottom line is that cork was a traidtionally accepting city good with immigrants ie the Hugenots & the Jewish Exiles to cork and it would be a shame to ruin that reputation with a Racist upsurge in the City.

It's become a chicken and egg situation though, hasn't it ?

Take this piece of filth, for instance - I refer to both post and poster... http://www.politics.ie/culture-commu...ml#post1443975

I don't mind a trenchantly opposite view to my own, on any given subject - but that is not opinion, or debate.

Cretins like this should just be quiet. They do not advance the cause they represent.

    .
Thata's a pretty serious slur. How about producing your evidence or else withdrawing it and apologizing?

In fact your defamatory post should be removed forthwith.

What we are seeing is a very nasty backlash........................

I personally oppose Immigration, MultiCulturalism and all this Diversity Nonsense. I don't believe Non-Nationals have the right to live and work here unless they have a strong cultural and ancestral link to the country.......................... I vehemently oppose Irish people living elsewhere in the world like Britain or elsewhere that has its own idigenous culture, norms and traditions.

I grew up in the UK for 20 years and even though it is a diverse place............. it is not a happy or tolerant one, I was treated appalingly throughout my whole time there in school where I was often called "Mick, Paddy and Thick Irish B*stard" not just by stupid ignorant white kids but other minority groups aswell................. the segregation of the place is worse than that of South Africa in Apartheid.

When Non-nationals made up a very tiny amount of the Irish Population, no-one minded and I wouldn't mind either if this was the case................. but what we have now is a joke and unsustainable because it is creating damage to the social fabric, identity, morals, traditions and culture of the Irish People and Nation.

However, spreading KKK rhetoric and ethnic superiority is vile and disgusting.................... I believe in Healthy Positive Sensible Nationalism and most people in any country do.................. but we don't want animals like these people distorting our anger into hate.

The Government let too many in................. so its their fault, we shouldn't blaming non-nationals because they were too naive of the consequences

Lads its more than likely a few teens venting their frustration at "the blacks",twenty years ago it would have been "the brits". Nothing to get too alarmed about.

Talking about restricting immigration does not equal racism. I thought we slayed that horse a couple of years ago.

Making unfounded accusations against people is a nasty business. You clearly have no ability to separate people who believe in strong immigration control and idiot racists who have irrational hatreds of other races.

As for those racist posters, you're probably talking about 4 or 5 people involved. I doubt Cork is about to be inundated with racist feeling.
