this would not be the case however if it was a blocked up cul-de-sac.
turning it into a dirty alley would hardly be a solution to a non-existent problem. thats when you get undesirables loitering and rubbish accumulating.
just ask some dun-eala residents whats happened since the council walled up the short-cut from cope foundation to their estate. a simple effective solution would've been to create a footpath, walled if need be and definitely lit up. instead it's now a muddy path, littered with rubbish, pitch dark from early evening, where kids from colaiste arrange fights to record on their phones and reportedly at the end of term burn their books against the wall and where other anti-social ******************************s dump their grass ....
And I know some who have had windscreen wipers torn off their cars late on a Saturday night, and in one case, caught a couple shagging in the walkway!

Is there any debate in Fermoy on what to do with the Town Hall - when the council gets the axe?

The heads are firmly in the sand on that one.

It looks that all town councils and area offices in Cork now face closure.

Good riddance to Fermoy Town Council IMO.

It is a relic in the Town since British rule.

Hopefully the building will be put to good use after the town council is abolished.

It now looks as if all functions of Fermoy Town Council will revert to Cork County Council.

What they will leave is the councillors.

Effectively, the concillors will remain to interact with Cork County Council.

They will continue to be elected - but the council will be a glorified talking shop - without any powers of any decision making capacity.

Even today - that is pretty much the case.

any update on the latest fermoy town council spat ... namely o'driscoll v pyne.
understand it was due to o'driscoll voicing his affirmation for the idea that social housing allocation should be removed from the hands of local cllr's and handled by a dedicated munster dept.
apparently pyne called for his resignation forthwith for the offending utterance.
no major changes at the mad hatter's tea parties then????

Any news on the future closure of both the area office/town council?

Are the courts sittings transferred to Mallow?
