    Hallinan is a member of Cork CC and would have been known to the electorate. I think SF made a mistake in opting for McLellan.
    I know Martin quite well and I think its simply a case of him not wanting to be the candidate

    i heard hallinan wont run next time cant see much new blood coming in even though we had a record election last time over 20+ candidates interest groups should get there act together and organise candidates ie busness, disability/health, Youth there the things that people want to hear a bit of drive from there local representives

    Hallinan will be made to step aside for McLellan re: the County Council seat, although he may be called to contest Youghal. Not the priority candidate, of course.

    It will be interesting to see how population increases affect the vote.
