Clonakilty Town Council - elections 2009

Two years out at this stage what are your thoughts - who will be the winners and losers ? Who is running, who is performing, who is not etc.

It will me more or less as you were, but I reckon independent Phil O' Regan, the woman who was mayor 2 years in a row after they decided to shaft Cionnaith O' Súilleabháin., will lose her seat. All the main parties should keep their 2 seats, if not quite the same personnel. I think Aidan would probably get elected if he ran. However, in town council elections 2 years is very early to know who will and won't run.

phil will retain her seat ,she bussed the non national workers from the chicken factory to vote for her in 04 ,shes a banker ,rock solid ,only party change might be ff to gain a seat ,giving them three seats ,and sf to drop from two seats to one ,ff had three quotas in 04 ,but they didnt manage their vote well at all.fgs two seats look safe.

greens havnt a prayer ,especially after going in to goverment with ff,labour havnt stood a candidate since 1994 ,she was not elected, they havnt had a candidate elected since 1979 i believe ,micheal o regan ,a sitting councillor was with labour for a time sometime between 1999 and 2004 election ,but left the party ,he has always been electd as an independent ,the longest serving councillor at present, elected in 1985,perhaps aidan pendelbury would stand for labour?
