Protestant School threatened after bus axed

Just heard from a couple of mates at home yesterday that the school bus that serviced Adair school in Fermoy was removed because Protestants there didn't live in a "distinct locality" (what minority ever does?). Now this school is tiny and realistically given distances the removal of the bus could lead to the closure of the school.

Cuts of this nature disproportionately affect minorities and minority schools like no other. There seems to have been 15 buses axed in Cork County, 4 of them are to CofI schools (which has a total of 20). There are 321 RC schools in the county of which presumably have had the remaining 11 bus services axed. That's 20% of Church of Ireland schools affected. How many % is 11 of 321? 3%?The effects of closing these bus services for minority schools is that some of them will close and the communities they service will be left with few options - move, boarding school or the local RC primary school. The DOES says school transport will not be approved for children whose 'homes are scattered within a school district.' The majority of Protestant schools comprise of students that are scattered.

Didn't the goverment get a much nicer drop in the bailout interest rate that was expected. Nearly a billion could be saved if memory serves me right, could they not put some of the extra savings from the interest pot to some locally needed services around the country. How much does this bus run cost the state a year?

The point is more about 1. a minority being perceived by some people as an easy target because of their numbers
and 2. about the future of the school being under threat now that the bus has been removed. I don't know how much people appreciate these things, but small things like a bus and small grants to these schools ensure their survival in rural areas.

Is the OP suggesting that the service was withdrawn simply because the children are Protestants?
It is nonsense to say that Germans are unable to change. Merkel

But here's my question; why refer to the childrens religion in the OP. Surely that doesn't matter in this day of age and you seem to be trying to stir something that simply isn't there. Many Catholic school buses have been closed in the last few years but threads are not made about Catholic victimhood.

Do you believe this was done with the intention of targeting a minority.
Or was it done because the bus didn't mean the department's criteria for a funded bus?
