    Yacht in Trouble off Cork Coast

    *Breaking News*

    Being reported that a yacht taking part in the Fastnet race has overturned this evening and 5 people are missing. Believed to be a UK registered vessel.
    Irish Naval ship LÉ Ciara(P42) is on route to the scene as is the RNLI and coast guard helicopters.

    Report with the OP says 21 people on board - that is a huge crew and would suggest that she is one of the top yachts with possibly a professional crew or at least some of them would be pros. Hopefully this will improve their prospects.

    RTE news now saying all 21 crew are alive and accounted for. Thankfully.

    THats great - bringing back memories of Fastnet 1979. Forecasting and equipment and comms much improved since then, but still those racing boats are lightly built, and are pushed to their limits. Hope all out in it return safely.
