    it would make anyone sick.

there will be more robberies like this as people hear about the greek default / euro collapse everyday.

Things like that really make me mad, an innocent eldery man that probaly had nothing to with the whole mess is now paying the price while the scumbags who caused the mess have their wealth well covered, fitz, fingers, and the rest are the scurge of this country and if none of them never get to stand in a court, their as bad even worse than the scum who robbed that man. t

Disgusting anti-social behaviour, just like our bankers.

This type of crime makes you wonder about whether abolition of corporal punishment was a good thing. That guy should be given a punishment he will remember for the rest of his life (if it were legal, a good hiding would not go amiss) and then made to pay back every cent that he robbed. I just hope the Gardai catch him soon before he puts it all in his veins or up his nose and/or in paying off some scumbag dealer.

I just hope that the pensioner recovers and was insured for his loss.

If it was cash he's screwed - though he hardly took out 70 K in cash. If it's by draft or cheque all he has to do is cancel it.

Sh%te - just read it - it was cash.

Yeah, I'm sure he had taken out "Getting robbed while hysterically taking out my life savings to put under my mattress" insurance

I thinkthis story is too stupid to be believable, more like a red herring put out by the banks to encourage old age pensioners to leave their savings in the banks to the benifit of the banks.
Where there is brass there is poverty near by. We are getting nearer to a dictatorship where your purpose is to slave, live in debt, ratify agreements and consume rubbish.

I know I'm a cynical old git, but does nobody else smell "news manipulation" off this story?

"Garda Superintendent Con Cadogan has appealed to the public for help in catching the robber; who is described as being in his late 20s, of stocky build and wearing jeans and a green jacket."

Was the thief not even in uniform? It's an appalling case and justice must be done but how bloody stupid was this pensioner?
