Cork south West will return two Fianna Fail Candidates

While Enda Kenny has claimed that his alternative government will bring changes, but his choice of candidates in Cork South West suggests otherwise. While know body might question the pedigree of Sheehan and O Keeffe; however, is this best that Fine Gael has to offer? It does possibly reflect the lengths to which Fine Gael will go to seek re election. More importantly it shows that in five years Fine Gael could not come up with candidates of sufficient calibre who could represent the west Cork constituency. This opinion shows contempt by Fine Gael HQ for some of the local councillors and in particular: Cllr Murphy and Cllr Neville, but then maybe O Keeffe was terrified that he might have to canvass. In reality what this suggests is that for this constituency to remain strong it is best that the two Fianna Fail candidates are returned. In addition, if tonight poll is correct than the new minister for justice may not be Jim o Keeffe, but rather Denis o Donovan. Of course you can be guaranteed that Denis will bring professionalism to the position, something which O Keeffe has demonstrated at a recent press conference that he will not.

I'd be genuinely surprised if that happened. I just can't see it as a realistic possibility.

First of all, Councillor Neville didn't run for convention and so it cannot be said that she was 'overlooked'. Secondly, even if a Fianna Fáil government is returned, it will only be with one TD in Cork South West, there is more chance of Michael McCarthy winning a seat than two Fianna Fáil

The reason why Ms Neville did not go to the convention is because she was told not to. Fine Gael have tried to hood wink the electorate with false promises and lies, but the people of Ireland are more sophisticated than that and in particular the people of West Cork. Labour have not any chance of getting elected, as its all spin and no substances, but what’s new from a party which is going to provided 2000 new hospital beds, but cant explain where the moneys coming from. The Harry Potter school of economics or is it more like the Tommy Copper school of economics, but in any case their election promises are about to go up in a cloud of smoke.
