Is Ned going to be the only candidate for FF? Is there anybody brave enough to try and replace Aherne?

Barry is straight out of FG central casting. Big landowner, farmer and business man.

Barry may well take votes from Sherlock, but not to such an extent that Sherlock's seat is under threat as a result.

The only way it would really hurt Labour would be if Barry takes votes from Mulvihill, and I don't think that's going to happen.

Sherlock is safe, but Barry could impact any surplus he may get, thus denying transfers to Mulvihill.

And I heard that Ahern has insisted he will run despite rumours

I know what you're referring to but in fairness he went far in the youth wing and did well in the Local Elections - in fact he took a much bigger share of first preference votes in the Fermoy area than Barry did in Mallow.

    I was at the count.
Barry reached the quota in the first round.
Staunton got the second highest share of first preferences and was automatically elected due to a directive from HQ about needing a candidate from a particular area within the constituency.

Went far in youth politics....YFG for feck sake.....What a shower of absolutely useless twats... FFS they elected O Driscolls chum, that prize gimp Walsh as president...Christ thats progressive alright...WM Murphy would be proud of his attituides....Says am awful lot about the characteristics of the voting body that is YFG... I'm all for democracy but have you wonder what sort of a society we will end up with if FG are given levers of power
