In the interests of equality can we also have a thread to review our current crop of Galway Co. Councillors. Thirty in number so it may be difficult to cover all, then again many of them have pretty much faded into the background since June. Here goes anyhow (of those that I think have made some kind of impact):
Seosamh O Cuaig IND: A very strong voice for the Connemara Gaeltacht and depsite his slight eccentricities is getting his message across. 7/10
Tom Welby PD: Another very competent councillor with a long family history of politics. Is very much respected in the Oughterard, Barna and Moycullen areas. 8/10
Fidelma Healy Eames FG: A bit of an enigma here, ran a great campaign, at times seems very competent and at times seems completely lost at sea. Has just opened a constituency office in Oranmore and definitely has plans to get a Dail seat. Jury still out. 6/10
Tomas Mannion FF: Very solid performer in the chamber and leader of the FF group. Well respected across all party lines and good worker on the ground. 8/10
Ciaran Cannon PD: Certainly has made an impact since his election at first attempt. Uses media well and has earned a lot of respect in a short few months. Is reputedly doing great work in the Athenry/Loughrea area and hopes to challenge for Dail seat. 7/10
Peter Feeney FG: Mister Athenry, has the whole town to himself and certainly makes the best of it. Excellent communicator and well respected in his area. 7/10
Dermot Connolly SF: Another good worker on the ground and makes a contribution to the debate in the chamber. Can tend to waffle a bit and looses impact. Definitely will run for Dail in next GE. 6/10
Got to go now, will continue later.
