Among other things, tolerance means being able to smile at other people's idiosyncracies.

Would NI be forced to carry some of the Crown's national debt or would they be happy to be rid of the place?

They can probably award themselves 40% pay rises in line with the population inflation.

The cost of unification would be about 3000 per ROI citizen.

Shouldn't we fix the health service and solve the homelessness crisis first? Those are the immediate priorities, are they not?

Not necessarily. The growing Catholic Middle class would probably vote FG if they could. Also NI would retain an autonomous parliament that would keep most of the toxic stuff away from the dail.

The health services an homlesness will never be fixed. They are permanent issues in all societies. 3000 per head. I think we'd (meaning all Ireland) get most of it back pretty quickly through increased tourism, trade and a more coherent natioanl infrastructure. Plus we'd get an immediate windfall of 50million in new UI passports fees, about 20mill in new UI drivers licences, maybe 100mill in new UI TV licence fees.
