The reality is, the average middle class joe, not just in Ireland but across the world, doesn't actually care(more than on a superficial level) what happens to poor people. That is why so many middle class western people move to places like Dubai where they are not taxed and they live comfortably because the bottom rung of their economy is slave labour. We just get good health insurance and put €2 in the scam charity boxes in the supermarket and all is well.
You imagine that having a homelessness crisis (with thousands of children homeless) and a heath service crisis (with people dying on trolley beds in hospital corridors) makes the ROI credible in the eyes of NI voters? Yes, or no. It's not a complicated question.

You'll like it. O'Connell St. / Sraid Ui Carson isn't a building site anymore and we have a shiny new Luas opening on Saturday - we'll switch it off on the 12th so it doesn't interfere with the march, least we can do.

Irish people eat too much, smoke too much, drink too much and don't exercise enough.
We don't have a problem with our health service.
We have a problem because people don't take care of themselves.

If you drive recklessly, there's no point in blaming the mechanic when you have to get your car fixed.
The first line of defense when it comes to your own health is you.
Your health is your responsibility, not the governments.
