pretty much yes - and on top of that these private fee paying schools get massive state subsidies to perpetuate a private education system for the elites.

Nope parents subsidise the education system.

I could very well spend those fees elsewhere.

    ZZzzzzzzzz

In Ireland, there is only private schools. There are no state schools.

The only distinction is between those private schools that invoice parents for additional resources (as little as €1 per annum) on top of taxpayer funding and those that invite donations from parents for additional resources on top of taxpayer funding.

And the former class of private schools have taxpayer funding reduced, while the latter form of private schools do not.

    That is it.

The "private schools" narrative is merely the regular Socialist class warfare, as usual, built on a lie and an abuse of the English language.

Sure its generally just ordinary tax payers that send their kids to private schools.

Cant understand why socialists and SF IRA are so against these parents.

Sure isn`t it paid out of after tax income.

Maybe SF IRA would prefer we spend it on alcohol, ciggies or in bookie shops.

I'm struggling with the image of Mary Lou's privately educated children being members of the Úlite! Does it mean that they'll have to wear school blazers and ties when attending IRA commemorations and SF protest rallies?
