Anxiety in RTE to see property values rise - significant investment by a few of the big earners there. Not to be confused with what might be good for the country.

the question to ask is why are rents rising.
Is it because its in the banks interest.
For every renter thats buys a new house theres the chance that a person who has a buy to rent morgagte will default. So is it better for the banks to restict loans and kept rents high and more people renting.

Why are rents rising ? Because more people are renting.

    Why ?

Because you cannot get a mortgage
Because you cannot get a tracker and the variable rate is being stress tested at 6%
Wait until its stress tested at 8%
Because people cant get a deposit together
