    #VINB Mon 8/10/2012: Women - are they bearing the brunt?

    Ursula Barry, Lecturer UCD; Author, Untold Story of the Crisis – Gender, Equality and Inequalities UCD School of Social Justice : Ursula Barry
    Clare Daly, ULA TD Dublin North ClareDaly.ie | Socialist Party TD Dublin North
    Joanna Tuffy, Lab TD Dublin Mid-West Joanna Tuffy TD Home Page

    It’s good to be back. And I’m delighted that Enda will be on the show too.

    On a day that saw:
    * three former Anglo executives sent from the Dublin District Court to trial to a higher court;
    * the Central Bank named six banks for allegedly misselling insurance products to thousands of customers;
    * the Credit Review Office overturned 96 cases where banks refused credit;
    * Euro zone Finance Ministers launch the permanent EU bailout fund, the ESM;
    is it any wonder tonight Vinny looks at women?

    He asks the panel:
    * Are women bearing the brunt of the recession?
    * Is gender equality a priority for this government?
    * Or do women have to wait? Again.

    Well, words fail me; I’m just gob-smacked. Well, let’s look on the bright side. Vinny has his wish - Enda will be appearing on the show - well, kinda, sorta.

    What journalists say:
    Work areas by theme What we do National Women's Council of Ireland
    The EU and Irish women
    Gender Equality Congress - Irish Congress of Trade Unions
    Irish women earn 17% less than men - The Irish Times - Fri, Mar 02, 2012

    What posters say:
    Time For An Equal Equality Commission...
    Did communist universities have equal pay for academic staff as in Ireland?

    Online: Aertv | Watch Irish TV live online Or tv3 catch-up through: Catch-up TV, Entertainment, News, Sport, Soaps and all your favourite Irish and International shows from TV3

    Update on ruserious:
    I’m sure you’ll all join me in saying a big ‘thank you’ to ruserious for setting up the #VINB threads in my absence. Fantastic work there, rus - trying to show Norman’s efforts up again. Loved your bedtime stories every night about my ‘adventures‘, even though everyone on the thread knew I was looking after family affairs at the Bates Motel. Pity tv3 didn’t always let you know in good time what was on #VINB; however, you managed.

    Good luck with your studies and we all hope it goes well for you in the exams. And, now that you’ve declared your intention to stay away until after the exams, if any of us see you on-site we’ll quickly run you.

    Eh. No. Definitely not bearing any brunt of anything. Another overpaid Irish academic snout in the trough. The rest of the population will bear the brunt, but clowns like that will always get plenty of swill.

    Ha Ha. You must be phucking joking, Vinny ?

    Concerning the issue of bearing hardship, how is Worzel these days ?

    Representing the Champagne socialists. Hypocisy specialists. Pass the puke bag.

    Three hypocrites will pontificate for almost an hour.

    If women in Ireland are bearing the brunt of anything, you can be 100% certain that the three snouts on tonight's show are well and truly insulated from any hardship.

    This is unreal.

    It's their own fault for being lesbian, feminist, atheists. They need to get back to mass and childbearing, and get all this voting, earning, driving and basic literacy nonsense out of their minds.
