#vinb Dearbhail McDonald Thur 23/8/2012: Who is looking after our children?

    Gerry Fahey, Occupational psychologist
Niamh Hourigan, Sociologist Department of Sociology, UCC
Mary O'Rourke, Former Minister Mary O
David Quinn, Journalist David Quinn (Irish journalist) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Children - the most vulnerable members of society. So how does the State protect our children? The upcoming, predicted now for late autumn, but often delayed, Referendum on Children’s Rights should go some way to address the lack in children’s protection but is it the panacea? Is the Government sleep walking into another failed referendum with the Children's Rights Referendum?

    On #vinb tonight Dearbhail asks:
    * will the referendum punish second class parenting
    * reform the lives of vulnerable children
    * or will it turn into a lawyerfest?

For those interested in this topic a good show is on the cards. Dearbhail has highlighted the gap in child protection measures in many of her articles. It is a subject which she remains committed to, so it should be an interesting and good show …

Next week Fintan O’Toole (27/8/2012) presents the show. The following week it is Noirin Hearty (3/9/2012), and then Vinny is back on 10/9/2012.

Oh! I nearly forgot. To those who have been predicting the imminent demise of the #vinb show on this site I‘ve news for you. It’s alive and well and is prominent in tv3’s autumn schedules. So there … you might even see Enda appearing yet, that is if God doesn‘t get there first.

    Jaysus...

With a topic like that AND Mary O'Rourke... I'll definitely be giving this one a wide berth...

    Enjoy...

I was in the audience at a Frontline programme on the Oireachtas inquiries referendum. Dearbhail was on the panel and stole the show. Bright lady.

Can't say I'm particularly interested in the subject matter but I think Dearbhail is an excellent panel member and I hope she does a good job presenting tonight's show.

Not if you expect to be paid for the full week.
