| The USA has a very different political system to ours, with multiple paths to political leadership, and incumbency in a given office matters a lot less. Palin's resignation is meaningless. She can still run for President and the Republicans are still associated with her and with the surrounding speculation until 2012. |

Quick war, long war, what makes you think the West has the right to wage any war on sovereign nations such as Iran?

| BTW, Iraq was a regime change operation, and I'm pretty sure that's how the war propaganda presented it at the time, back in 2003. The Israelis who wrote the Clean Break document in 1996 - which explicitly called for a "regime change" and the removal of Saddam Hussein in Iraq - were the same Israelis cheerleading the war in the Bush II Admin. No coincidence. Don't pretend that the goal of "regime change" is a departure from the mission in Iraq, or that it will lead to a "short war".

| The republicans big problems are the change in the ethnic makeup of the USA and the associated demographics. They have not adapted to change.

It was dignified, restrained and effective.Doesn't Bertie deserve the same scorn. No shouting, no abuse, no agression just a relentless slow clap whenever he speaks in public would be enough to end that man's presidential fantasy. If you agree copy the signature in to yours and lets get the whole country slow clapping Bertie. |

You are probably right Electro. Obama will likely not initiate a conflict with Iran, if he doesn't, and he lasts 8 years, Iran will do it for him by attacking Israel or using a third party to attack America of an American ally. That will cause a war with Iran. Let's just hope they drop this "democracy building" nonsense this time. The aim should be to construct a compliant rentier state in Iran, such as the one in Saudi Arabia or Egypt.

| And what were the Israeli "Defence" Forces doing when they razed Gaza earlier this year? Freedom fighting? Quote:
But yeah, the Isrealis are definitely the "good guys" alright.

| Would have thought that moderate Republicans would be breathing a sigh of relief. A chink of light for them.
