The USA has a very different political system to ours, with multiple paths to political leadership, and incumbency in a given office matters a lot less. Palin's resignation is meaningless. She can still run for President and the Republicans are still associated with her and with the surrounding speculation until 2012.

War with Iran is an inevitablity. Either the West undertakes it now while it still can without fear of nuclear annihilation of major cities, or we wait, like we did for Hitler, for them to strike the West directly or indirectly with Weapons of Mass distruction or economically by shutting the straits of Hormuz.

A quick war ASAP(no-one's talking about another Iraq style invasion, just a tactical attack, regime change and Finlandisation and so on) will be in everyone's interest.

I'm afraid I can't agree with you on this. First of all we cannot be sure whether or not Iran is a threat in the first place. And second of all, the United States is already tied down in Iraq and Afghanistan so the resources for fighting a third country simply don't exist at the moment. I personally think the Iranian threats to the west are more bark than bite, so we can be assured national, and international safety in regards to Iran and it's capabilities.

If people such as yourself hold the balance of power, then yes. However in a general sense, no.

If only Joe Biden extended his "non-intervention" rhetoric to Iran:

Quote:
Biden says the U.S. “cannot dictate to another sovereign nation what they can and cannot do.”
It seems that statement applies only to Israel. Any other countries, the US can interfere with force all it likes.

Quick war, long war, what makes you think the West has the right to wage any war on sovereign nations such as Iran?

BTW, Iraq was a regime change operation, and I'm pretty sure that's how the war propaganda presented it at the time, back in 2003.

The Israelis who wrote the Clean Break document in 1996 - which explicitly called for a "regime change" and the removal of Saddam Hussein in Iraq - were the same Israelis cheerleading the war in the Bush II Admin. No coincidence.

Don't pretend that the goal of "regime change" is a departure from the mission in Iraq, or that it will lead to a "short war".

The republicans big problems are the change in the ethnic makeup of the USA and the associated demographics.
They have not adapted to change.

If you agree copy the signature in to yours and lets get the whole country slow clapping Bertie.

Ask those Israelis who had to live under a shower of Iranian sponsored rockets if they are sure Iran is a threat or not. Iran has been behind terror attacks all over the world, from Argentina to Iraq. A country which says it will sacrifice 30-40 million of its own people to kill 3-4 million in another country has forfeited its right to peaceful coexistance.

You are probably right Electro. Obama will likely not initiate a conflict with Iran, if he doesn't, and he lasts 8 years, Iran will do it for him by attacking Israel or using a third party to attack America of an American ally. That will cause a war with Iran. Let's just hope they drop this "democracy building" nonsense this time. The aim should be to construct a compliant rentier state in Iran, such as the one in Saudi Arabia or Egypt.

And what were the Israeli "Defence" Forces doing when they razed Gaza earlier this year? Freedom fighting?

By contrast, (beyond the headlines) there were a minuscule number of Israeli casualties from the makeshift rockets that lack propulsion.

But yeah, the Isrealis are definitely the "good guys" alright.

Would have thought that moderate Republicans would be breathing a

sigh of relief. A chink of light for them.

It wouldn't be miniscule if it was your mother.
