Why do IRA supporters, or to use a trendy word, apologists, chunter on about other peoples bombs. I thought that the no warning bomb was weapon of choice for them ?

Are there good bombs and bad bombs?

Bollocks!!

Bollocks indeed, bollocks that you would be talking about IRA bombs in a thread concerning Afghanistan. I don't believe that any of the groups styling themselves 'IRA' are involved in that theatre of conflict.

There have been many, many cases when the troops on the ground have been denied supporting airstrikes BECAUSE there were civilians in the area. Sorry to disappoint those amongst you who think that bombings etc are carried out willy nilly.
You aren't dissapointing me, maybe you might dissapoint Clanrickard though, because it was he, not I that stated that Civilians were killed because the Taliban took refuge in civilian areas.
However he has subsequently jumped on your bandwagon and is now claiming that the Brits would do no such thing for the reasons pointed out by you,
Its hard to debate with someone so inconsistant.

As Aindriu has pointed out many missions are aborted because or the risk of civilian deaths. Some people on here just hate the UK and the US and will invent any ol cobblers to paint these two countries in a bad light.

Whatever their past crimes we are talking about the Pak-Afghan theatre where they are in the right and backed up with a UN mandate. I am also very proud to see our own troops helping out.

Correction they are answerable to the people 24/7 they like you just dont realise it, they have no mandate unless the people decide they have one, and if the people decide tomorrow they have no mandate then the gombeens should take heed.

I presume you could not address the rest of the post as you are lost for words and you can not justify your position.

you seem to be a treasure trove of mis-information if one thing is clear it is that the IRA always gave telephone warnings, wether the british acted on them or not is quite a different matter also known as black propaganda.

Rule no. 1 of statecraft:

If at all possible, do not become involved in foreign wars.

Rule no. 2 of statecraft:

If you must get involved in a foreign war, then let it be anywhere but Afghanistan.

Not for the first time, the Brits will leave Afghanistan with their tails between their legs.

And not for the first time, a people will say: "Good riddance!"

*sigh* don't why I bother but I suppose I hope some ray of light will enter the dark dank cesspool of hateful convulsion that passes in your thick skull for a mind.

The Taliban have the run of the North West Frontier in Pakistan and with funding from elements in the ISI and the Gulf are continuing to attack NATO troops. Try reading a newspaper.

I don't. It is a democratically elected government nothing puppet about it.

They invaded Post 9/11 which took place in 2001. Clinton was not the President at the time, GW Bush was. How fúcking stupid are you?
As you really are a very stupid individual I will, out of pity, go through this again as I presumed, wrongly, you had some vague knowledge of the situation.
1. On Clinton's watch the Taliban came to power.
2. OBL took up with them.
3. The Sauids negotiated with the Taliban to hand over OBL in return for international recognition which the Taliban craved.
4. The Taliban agreed and were prepared to hand him over
5. The US embassy in Nairobi was bombed as was the USS Cole in Yemen.
6. In retaliation Clinton ordered rocket attacks on Sudan and Afghanistan
7. The Taliban were furious and cancelled the deal with the Saudis thinking the Saudis had hoodwinked them

Are you following all this.......good....fast forwrad to 9/11
8. GWB goes to the UN and asks for sanction for an invasion of Afghanistan after the Taliban refused to hand over OBL
9. The Taliban admitted....note you...admitted he was there but refused to hand him over saying there was no proof he was responsible for 9//11
10. When the bombing began they offered to hand him over but Bush refused the offer.
11. The Northern Alliance backed by the US and UK drove the Taliban from Kabul
12. A video shwoing OBL admitting responsibility for 9/11 was susequently found and released.

So your folowing statement is BS

They blamed the Taliban for hiding OBL post 9/11 but never proved it.

A FÁS course is more your level. Stick to things you understand, like pontificate about the Brits from the height of a bar stool. Fellow tossers Crowley and Haggard will keep you company.
