This is good news the trial was a friggin'g farce, there will be a new trial. It is two and a half years
since the murder of Anna Politkovskaya, I have included her IWMF speech from 2002 regarding her
awareness of the danger she faced at the bottom of this post.

So was the acquittal, I'd imagine. I wonder how long Russia will stay in the Council of Europe. Does the ECHR's writ really run in Russia?

they are Chechen, this is murky , a lawyer and trainee attached to Novaya Gazeta were murdered last year. He was linked to Politkovskaya via her work in Chechnya. Funnily enough those brutalised by the Chechen muppet don't really get access to ECHR nor indeed highly paid defence lawyers.

it is almost three years since the murder of Journalist and mother Anna Politkovskaya (she was murdered on Putin's birthday in 2006). Great news. Let's hope it's not just another show trial for the international press. I think Russia found out that Journos, despite all their different views can be a force to be reckoned with if you go after one of their own. And rightly so. In the brief Georgian conflict, they found themselves completely painted as the aggressos by the western press. What should have been a great PR opportunity to see Russian tanks rolling to PROTECT people, turned intoa gient fùck you. Unfotunate that it's our perception of the story that suffers but perhaps they won't be so quick to pull the trigger in future. Perhaps...

unfortunately the retrial will continue along the same lines as the initial trial and the family has objected.
