Default Israel lobby strikes again in US

Don't think there is a thread on this. Chas Freeman was the appointee to head the National Intelligence Council. That was before the character assassination of him orchestrated by the Israel Lobby. Freeman decided to withdraw as he knew the attacks would persist and stop him doing his job. He let them have it with both barrels.

"The outrageous agitation…will be seen by many to raise serious questions about whether the Obama administration will be able to make its own decisions about the Middle East and related issues...[It casts] doubt on its ability to consider, let alone decide what policies might best serve the United States rather than those of a Lobby intent on enforcing the will and interests of a foreign government…

"The aim of this Lobby is control of the policy process through the exercise of a veto over the appointment of people who dispute the wisdom of its views…and the exclusion of any and all options for decision by Americans and our government other than those it [the Lobby] favors."

Freeman also thought the Chinese were too lenient to the protesters during the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989 and had business interests with the Chinese and other links to the Saudi’s. Exactly the type of man you want to head the National Intelligence Council.

His criticism of Israel had nothing to do with the orchestrated campaign against him, no? Ya right. Stephen Rosen is credited as being the first person to alert the lobby to Freeman's appointment according to Daniel Pipes. The same Stephen Rosen who is currently on trial for violations of the Espionage Act involving the transmission of classified information intended for Israel. Exactly the sort of person you want to be influencing who heads the National Intelligence Council, eh?

If the links Rocky attributed to Freeman are true, he never had a chance. So why would the Jewish lobby even waste their breath, let alone make an effort to stop someone who was bound to fail?

Puts a question mark over the entire story.

I dont doubt that the Jewish lobby in the US was against Freemen, given his statements about Israel. But those statements, right or wrong, put a question mark over his impartiality. His comments were controversial. Just because he said them against Israel does not mean they can be ignored. Seven members of the vetting panel raised questions to that effect. Someone with such strongly stated views, no matter what those views are, is bound to carry more than a hint of bias into his job. Even if he did not, the perception of such bias would remain.

And for anyone who thinks Freeman is anti-Isreal or pro-Justice, consider this, he was ambassador to Saudi Arabia. A diplomat saying what those who host him want to hear? Surely not!

Freeman's repsonse to events alone reveal his complete unsuitability for such an important foreign policy role.

Another exhibition of very poor judgement from the new administration.

But were the things he said in the context of his diplomatic work or as statements as a private individual?

You can dress it up anyway you wish, you can call it anti-Zionism or whatever you like.

Fact is that the ZOG meme is antisemitism, writ large. It is the same meme that started with the Silver Shirts, was expounded by the Aryan Nation and nowadays features in every deluded sick fantasists worst levels of bullsh1t.

Thanks for showing your true face Asi, you did a fair job keeping that pot off the boil for so long.

He was to be in charge of national intellignce estimates. You want someone cold and unemotive without any priors. This guy appears to have lots of priors with the most sensitive of buttons.
