Default Israeli deputy PM says bombing Iran is "unavoidable"

Israeli deputy PM Shaul Mofaz is quoted in today's news reports saying that bombing Iran is now "unavoidable " because sanctions aren't working.

This has caused an 8 dollar jump in oil price.

Following Obama's speech to AIPAC a couple of days ago, it looks like Israel has got the backing of the US establishment for it's plans.

Iran has formidable armed forces, this could be a seriously bloody and disrupting conflict.

Doubt if there will be a war.

The issue is probably whether Israel could successfully target all the facilities when they will likely be dispersed and hidden in mountains etc

One that could turn global very quickly. If this escalates, Israel will be over run and they will be forced to use Nuclear weapons and who knows what will happen after that, Russia and China have huge interests in Iran. They won’t stand idly by and allow Israel cripple their economies by irradiating Iran’s oils fields. Israel simply cannot act unilateraly on this or they would have done already, so Israel,as usual, is behaving like a belligerent child, trying to force Bushes hand into doing the job for them (with some back room deal with China and Russia) before he leaves office.

Either way we could very well be looking at WWIII

And a spoilt, pampered one at that. But they get plenty of ammunition from Ahmedinejad.

Israel is a rogue state, an illegal occupation of sovereign territory belonging to others by zealots who share nothing except an extremist religous superiority doctrine and the desire to subside in the desert on US handouts.
Whatever the legitimacy of their occupation of Palestine, and there is precious little, or the legitimacy for how they treat their Palestinian helots both within their illegal borders and in the hinterlands of the West Bank and Gaza, and again it's almost none, there is absolutely no justification even by way of resorting to the sort of lies used by America to prop up its invasion of Iraq to legitimise an Israeli aggressive assault on Iran.

Israel has no choice but to take any nuclear facilities out, or Iran would threaten their survival.

That is ridiculous. Israel is a Nuclear Armed State, any country threatening their survival is peddling their own destruction.

There is no justification for Israel to strike any facility in Iran. US intelligence has reported on the matter and has concluded that Iran does not have a weapons programme. I simply don’t see what the sanctions the Israeli PM is talking about are failing to achieve
