Yes they tried to get the oil but the Iraqi's gave the contracts to someone else. That's one of the reasons why UK had to perform the recent foreign policy circus with regard to Libya.
Absolutely astonishing turn if events.

Russia doesn't want them on their soil sucking out money from their people either. But they are strong enough and big enough to resist "Democratic" theft unlike us.

No, they don't. I think there maay be one poster of that view. Afghanistan is a strategic target as it has land boundaries with China, Iran, India, Pakistan and the former USSR territories. The US has been in Afghanistan since the 70s at least, funding war lords and training "jihadists". The heroin funds its activities and is in itself a weapon against the population of the region.

You have to read Brzezinski, who spells out US strategy and was involved there himself from the 70s.
