In recent years, schools and communities have been established and Muslim influence is gaining momentum. Recently a request was made to the Catholic Pope to allow Muslims to once again worship in the mosque of Cordoba. We lost this land over 600yrs ago, inshaAllah this new resurgence will see our reclaiming of our former homeland.

Anyone know if there's any truth to this? Great news if it is the case.

This is the kind of agenda monkey that needs to be removed from the site using the double red dot system I would advocate.

Otherwise, I've been to the Mezquita several times, it's an awesome testimony to the Umayyad dynasty. Have to say the Christians were a bit cheeky accommodating a full-size cathedral within it, but those are the breaks in religious and political wars.

Something really needs to be done, there is a significant number of troll like individual/s that constantly destroy threads, and are ruining the site. They/He are quite easy to spot, and generally any input to a thread from them tends to result in it quickly being derailed.

As the Muslims were cheeky appropriating the Santa Sophia church and many other churches throughout the middle east and Turkey. Any chance of Christians getting them back?

I find your objection offensive - young man you need to understand that we live in a multicultural reality not your homogeneous wet dream of yesteryear. Islam is part of the political fabric of Ireland and deserves a place in all such discussions. If you don't agree, well tough - find another platform for your obvious hate.

If you mean hagia sophia, (I think sancta sophia is the lesser used latin name), I think you'll find it's now a museum.

Well I did say those were the breaks - and it applied to both sides. Also, would like to point out that in 1935 the Hagia Sophia was transformed into a museum by Ataturk. Then again, he was ahead of the curve on most things.

Anyway, you're beginning to legitimise this thread....

I would be willing to bet that my experience of and attitude to multiculturaism is far more open and diverse than yours,

To advocate "retaking" or "reclaiming" something based on simple relgiion has nothing to do with multiculturasim and everything to do with generating the platform of hate which you speak of.

What makes this thread illegitimate in your eyes Malbekh? It highlights something political happening in a foreign land, that has historical relevance to some people in Ireland. It's even in the appropriate section, so what is your gripe?
