Well he knew pretty well that fifteen years is enough to govern that is the reality.

You're probably right

An FF'er with princples?

More like an FF'er afraid hes going to loose his seat if he isnt seen to take a stand.

Although if others start making similar threats or actions we might see a full u turn.

However the cost of that would be Harneys head.
I live in hope.

An FF TD in Cork (Ned O'Hara?) quit last year because he couldn't vote confidence in Mary Harney. He was hugged and kissed by Cowen and Bertie 2 weeks later

This will be no different

who knows, though from what little i know of him he may not, also only a TD for 12 months (first elected 07) so may not be FF to the core, esp seeing as he (it seems) rebuffed a meeting invitation from Cowen, may be putting as much blue water between himself and FF.. i guess what will be telling is how he votes in the dail, will he really be independant or will he just be FF in all but name

so now we only have one FF TD in Wicklow the downside is that its Roche

RTÉ seems to suggest that Jim McDaid is waivering aswell, possibility of yet another defection would be quite likely I'd guess, backbenchers know they cant defend this Budget to their constituents and that in the long run, leaving FF will do them much better
