Anyone else think Aoife Brennan has a shot at the nomination?

Much better campaigner than her brother and has the profile of a councillor behind her.

One of the funniest things I have ever read on P.ie, collina. Comedic golddust.

Shay Brennan, are you mad... AS a FF living in DS the fool has no respect... He was appalling during the last By-Election and this was clearly seen by the terrible TV debates and interviews he gave, He lived off his late Fathers reputation but that is over.

If FF want to win the seat in DS they need to run Senator Maria Corrigan. She is well respected and has a proven track record.

My Money is on Corrigan to win the seat in a By-Election...

I agree, Maria Corrigan should get the nomination to run in the By-Election. She only narrowly missed out on the nomination at the last convention. I don't think Shay is cut out for high profile politics and FF made a big mistake with their nominations at the last By-elections. Both with Shay in DS and Maurice Ahern in DC. It just reeked of the old school seat entitlement and inheritance.

However it will be all academic as FF won't win the seat. It's almost impossible for Government parties to win By-elections, even at the best of times, especially in Dublin. So regardless of who they nominate the seat will be won by FG or Lab. FF will be looking to regain some of the natural FF vote in the constituency which was up to 41% in the 2007 GE.

Don't know Maria Corrigan but would have thought that to stand any chance of a miracle they should certainly drop the old seat entitlement to which you refer and be seen to run someone who is not part of a dynasty or has no baggage.

If you southsiders think she's worth a shot then give it a go.

All we really need to do is whoop the blueshirts into third

I'd like to see a catfight between Twink (FG), Ryan Tubridy (FF), Brendan O Carroll (Labour), and Jim Corr (Independent)
