The GBS was initiated to digitise all books published before January 2009. lt is not a libraries project that is bound in the ethics of copyright and intellectual property rights but a deal that Google made with authors and libraries as part of their ongoing digitisation project. Merkel has added her voice to the angry noises that the GBS has elicited. Great about time too, maybe her govt will look at the collapse of the archives of Cologne and urban 'gentrification' too : http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology...kel-opposition
