To use a very simple analogy:

You can't prove that gravity exists, but we still built a wall around the Cliffs of Moher.
I think the point is that man made climate change is not a proven fact, though climate change can be seen. I do see the need to confuse the two issues, but it serves no purpose other then cover up the fact we have been are are being lied to.

Pumping huge resources and time into curbing an unstoppable event which most likely is not of mankinds making is pi**ing time, energy and money up against a wall. All of which could be better spend preparing for change to minimise the impact on the world population, who may suffer terribly.
