Great. I was never a fan of the climate change theory but always argued that we WILL run into trouble regarding our fuel supplies one day - and quite likely within our lifetimes.
Danger is that this will destroy our moves towards energy independence as the public will become extraordinarily cynical towards anything associated with global warming.

Strange this does not even make the news - wonder if ff got any zingers through today or yesterday in the wake of the match?!

So the 1079 emails and 72 documents seem indeed evidence of a scandal involving most of the most prominent scientists pushing the man-made warming theory - a scandal that is one of the greatest in modern science. I’ve been adding some of the most astonishing in updates below - emails suggesting conspiracy, collusion in exaggerating warming data, possibly illegal destruction of embarrassing information, organised resistance to disclosure, manipulation of data, private admissions of flaws in their public claims and much more. If it is as it now seems, never again will “peer review” be used to shout down sceptics.

This is clearly not the work of some hacker, but of an insider who’s now blown the whistle.

Not surprising, then, that Steve McIntyre reports:

As embarrassing as the e-mails are, some of the documents are more embarrassing. They include a five-page PDF document titled The Rules of the Game, that appears to be a primer for propagating the AGW message to the average subject/resident of the United Kingdom. And there is an email disclosing how best to modify data and access readily available money in ways to avoid taxes reforted on in The Reference Frame here.

Corporateism born in the West, but saw the developing world as more advantageous ?

You get used to dramatic thread titles failing to stand up. But if this is true it really is quite extraordinary.

On the AGW front, the real issue is Carbon Tax and Cap and Trade. Creating revenue out of nowhere.
Hence the ready funding to create science which supported this financial endeavour.

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out over the next few days.

My opinion is this could have been a hacking, not by a hacker, but by someone with a conscience who was aware of the fraud and decided to expose it. If it was a hacker, then I'd say it was state sponsored, China or Russia most likely, ahead of the Copehhagen meeting.

If there is any truth in the theory itself this just proves what we have been saying here for months, that the way the scientific information is treated is undermining science very badly. There are very serious questions to be answered about the whole way the public has been fed scare mongering information here.
