BLESSED UNREST - The immune system of humanity finally kicking in

Yes states exist, and while there pressure has to be put on them to sign up to binding deals to cap emissions and really make an effort to reduce carbon PPM (parts per million) down to 350...


In the meantime, many of us, some new to things, some at "activism" since 60's and 70's feel that this is a time like no other, due to comunication tools (like this blog), like the enormity of the problems we are in, but also the new mechanism, or organism that is being created to deal with these processes. Huge part of that is a bottom up grassroots movement that is growing, for some they want to smash the state, grand let them at it, for many, its about simply connecting and building movements, taking action in your own locality, sorting problems locally and continuing in this way.

US ecologist Paul Hawken has referred to it as BLESSED UNREST, check out this short vid to get an idea of what hes on about; the immune system of humanity finally kicking in

Sorry again FF, but this is not rubbish, as yesterdays guardian (cant really argue they are misinformed now, can you?) nicely puts things:

I agree that all this is not down primarly to one group, one action, one event, or simply the "downturn" in the economy, it is a mixture of all these factors. But Surely having your design scrutinized in court and having being given the big thumbs down, as happened in the example when the KINGSNORTH 6 argued successfully "lawful excuse", is a big blow and has had large part in the reasons for the pull out.

And just to add another win into this pot:

FF, it seems to me that something is happening, direct action is part of the process of change.

Im glad you too are working for cleaner wiser future, designing the alternative. As its not eneough to simply shut stuff down, we have to build up the alternatives. Thats what i work at too.

But the important thing, be it craic or a spiritual shift, or simply becuase its trendy... more and more people are starting to get involved in changing the world. Great.

Take a look at what the young people in England were up to yesterday at POWERSHIFT;

And its not only in England, Ireland or northern europe where these early days of climate action are happening.

In the US, the coal factory which sits right outside the white house in Washington, was shut down by the US Powershift and related day of action back in early March:





So back to the initial title of this article.

We, the people, are waking up.
