You guys often produce better analysis than you'll find in any of the papers, so I thought I'd let you in the loop on the Ganley issue because it's the number one discussion topic on this site.

You must be kidding. Pat Leahy is one of their main mouthpieces on pro-Lisbon propaganda. During Lisbon 1 Leahy in one week chaired two Lisbon 'debates' where all 6 participants on both panels were pro-Lisbon. Leahy was paid by the Commission to 'Chair' these debates and in the following Suinday's SBP he wrote a disgraceful piece of trash, no doubt supplied by the government/commission, in which he attempted to link Ganley by the most obscure grounds with some Austrians neo-nazis. But when you read the article all that group appeared to have done was to campaign against a Mosque in the city of Linz! Hardly crime of the century.

The problem is that the Irish Times has been discredited as an objective news source where Ganley, Libertas and the EU are concerned so it is not unthinkable that Madam's institutional bias against Ganley and Libertas will be reflected in how it presents the data and, perhaps, in how the polling questions are framed.

I think that Sinnott's vote base is too fragmented in that it is both a personal vote and a collection of extremist voters. That is fine for an "outsider" type of vote during good times economically but it could be trouble now in a recession. The traditional protest vote parties always tend to do better in a recession when the vote effectively polarises. Add Ferris' high profile poster campaign and media appearances, Sinnott's effectively non-existent media campaign and her 'mad eyes' posters, Alan Kelly's minimal media profile and his 'smug git' posters and there is the probability that voters may opt for Ferris and create quite an upset for both Sinnott and Kelly/Labour.

Excellent result for Sinn Féin, a statistically significant increase. Sinn Féin is really doing well now - a very empowering experience. In all of this Sinn Féin will aim at sustainable slow release rather then here-today-gone-tomorrow increases.
