Default The next Greens in government

Working on the assumption that the German Greens may be out of power in the next few weeks, where is the next country where Greens have a realistic chance of getting into government? Could it be [gulp] Ireland? Does the fate of the Green movement rest of our shoulders?

Also, any other country where Greens are in government at the moment?

OK, I really dont want to get into another poll discussion, all Im going to say is the opposition have the wind in their sails, the election is 18 months away and anything can happen in politics.

Now, back on topic.........

That's 18 months for people to realise that Eamon Ryan was right when he said "we're ********************ed" the other night.

Next, our gasoline and jet fuel supplies here in Virginia , are precarious to say the least. For the next few weeks, inventories should be sufficient to prevent a general shortage. After that, much depends on the speed with which the heavily damaged refineries can be repaired and the willingness or ability of Europe and wealthy Asian nations to keep shipping us gasoline.

Already, European editorial writers and columnists are starting to grumble. They raise the specter of Americans in Hummers, gobbling up Europe 's heating oil for next winter. The head of the IEA warned that there will be a worldwide energy crisis if the US tries to replace its missing oil production and gasoline refining by outbidding everyone else on the world market. As usual, it is the poor African nations that will suffer the most. Furthermore, it is becoming evident that $3-4 gasoline does not significantly reduce American consumption and that we will continue driving at our normal pace until stopped by still higher prices or general shortages.

Another poll discussion? You asked if the Greens will be in power in Ireland. How can you not talk about polls and still be on topic. What's your question so?

Where is there a chance that the Greens will get into government, or where are they in government?

When I say 'stay on topic', Im trying to keep the thread away from BarryW talking about FGs poll improvements and a general discussion on the next Irish election.

I assume Andrew's main question is 'where is the next country where Greens have a realistic chance of getting into government'?

Will the Greens insist that as the price of their inclusion in Government, press their potential partners to implement a quota system for Immigrants?

Do you even know what the Greens' immigration policy is?
