With 25 elected councillors now in place, I beleive a number of these will not be standing in 2009. The names of those I heard who will not be running are:

Mickey Rice (FF)
John Turley (Ind)
Bill Delaney (FF)

Defeated Labour general election candidate Jim O'Brien says he will throw his hat into teh ring in the Mountmellick electoral area.
Shinners are targeting Portlaoise, Mountmellick and Emo electoral areas after Stanley's general election outing.

I'd rather take my eye balls out with tooth picks then have to worry about the Laois Local elections that are 2 years away.

Some of us have a Governement to dream up
