- "sub-intellectual" is just a word - totally pejorative to indicate a dismissive view of somebody's argument - it's not a sneaky "madey-uppey" (!!) word.

- Ellie has been "bullying" other posters in her facile manner over the last few weeks - I refer you to her posts - but she is a damsel-in-distress and across the plain gallops Sir Joe her noble knight-errant.

You can have a child once you have your period - now I'd like to see your SPHE classes. Were you the person pretending to be a coal man as well? I suggest calling yourself Wretched Walter (Mitty) instead. You say you love being a teacher and you spend your evenings looking up sites that people discuss the pay of teachers. You are indeed wretched sad ignorant person. Do you even have a degree or is that why you have a chip on your shoulder? I think the pay is great and it is, so stop being nasty to everyone.

- What on earth is SPHE - some type of remedial class for slow learners that the school principal gives to the dud teacher on the staff - is this what you teach ?

I said teacher's pay is very good, that is a positive for me - I just don't have a sense of entitlement yet, and I hope I will never feel that way. Wretched by name eh Wilbur? I apologise to no body - it's my chosen career of 30 years and (uniquely?) ALL my friends earn more than I.
I don't know what the other posters work at - perhaps you could inform me so that I too can make ill informed remarks about you? If you haven't taught a class for a few years, frankly you are not qualified to judge my work and worth - no more than I would be so presumptuous to judge you.

I am a teacher - just received my latest paypacket - received €392 net for two weeks and paid €72 in pension deductions and income levies.

Well said though in fairness to the Odd poster here like Prop Joe and others there are those who sometimes look up material ands make some attempt to be informed. However, Im still perplexed why Joe is not on his sons Board of Management? There are of course the Trolls like Robert who is really a student. It is not fully right ,that people should comment on one profession without indicating what they do? We are all customers of someone-students of teachers and me of whatever service you provide.

I totally agree. Why are people so obsessed with teachers pay and they remain anoymous about their own profession. They comment at will about teachers holidays, pay, performance, stress level of work etc. Its gereralisations fed to them by the media. It takes the focus away from the other problems like the money that was spent on social welfare in the boom times when we invited people to Ireland to do the jobs that Irish people would not do, the money wasted on e-voting, etc etc
Most teachers are parttime and oftentimes dont have enough hours to qualify for pension. Most people have to buy back years to qualify for pensions if they were parttime for years. Most teachers dont get a full time position for years. Im not complaining about this but pointing out the situation.Why are people who are ill informed and snatch at a piece of information they read re teachers making widly innaccurate comments as if its their God given right to comment on teachers.
This is our chosen profession, why should we feel guilty for having a job.
