Actually Ellie – I take this back - totally unnecessary and I have no interest in bashing anyone so – my apologies.

It just irks me to see that a student teacher doesn’t see teaching as a vocation. After some of the things that I’ve seen over the years – it can honestly be nothing else. There is nothing, absolutely nothing in this world worse than seeing children neglected or suffering in any way and I’ve seen far too much of it to ever take my job lightly.

This was about teacher's pay - I said I thought it was well paid. I don't think I deserved the abuse I got, no amount of put downs and insults will change my mind on that. I will not give out personal details - I have been asked by some where did I sub, what age am I etc. To be honest I find that a bit intimidating and unwarranted. I chose to do teaching because I thought I might be good at it, and I like children and i wanted to get a degree so there you are. I'm sure if you sat in my SPHE you would indeed get a laugh out of it, but I will not return the insult as i don't know you and couldn't comment upon you. I'm glad you're so dedicated and that is good, but people are entitled to discuss pay issued if they please.

I really hope you're never let loose in a classroom. I've come to the conclusion that you're either an imbecile or pretending to be an imbecile. If the likes of you are making it into the teaching profession , then this country is really screwed. Have you any conception of how sub-intellectual you appear in your posts ?

I imagine you're "havin' a laugh" but I wish I was sure.

Ah Robert at least we dont start threads pretending to be something we arent like you. As for you Elle-course codes are not course components. God help the poor students you get to teach. Robert claimed to be a teacher but is a student. He also has a very sick obsession with teachers.

Being a bully and insulting people - god help your pupils if that's the way you argue with them. i hope my child is never taught by the likes of you. I'd hate to see you let loose near young people with an attitude like yours.

Wilbur, your own posts range from the decidedly toungue-in-cheek to the outright bizarre.

Odd that you feel the need to lambast Ellie with a madey-uppy insult like "sub-intellectual" after she strayed off-message on the pay issue.

Of course the pay rates seem generous to someone still in training. Everyone feels like a king (or queen) when they get their first real pay packet.

Remember this is a discussion site, not a classroom. You're addressing other adults, so try to jolt yourself out of talking-down-to-teenagers mode. Please stop trying to supress any opinion that differs from your own, or the union orthodoxy. By all means, argue the issue on its merits, but there's no need to resort to bullying or "swarm tactics" against an individual.

And demanding personal, identifying information that may be professionally damaging to another poster is way off-limits.

Says he that posted this wonderful example of 'discussion'

"Hopi getting all sanctimonious about taxpayers' money, I've heard it all now!
Usually you're the biggest cheerleader for wasting said taxpayers' money" Kettle and black come to mind. And the defence of elle is easily explained , it takes a plank to know a plank!!!

Hopi, you have a long history of blindly defending wasteful practices in the public service. I was simply pointing out the irony of your sudden conversion to fiscal responsibility when it comes to Ellie's pay-cheque, just because she happens to disagree with the union orthodoxy.

There's a world of difference between that perfectly valid comment and the attempts to intimidate Ellie with thinly veiled threats about her professional future.

For someone with an oft-professed admiration for régimes that employed Stasi-style tactics against their own citizens, there's something very creepy about your attempts to goad Ellie into identifying herself. Have you opened a file on her perchance?

Is that you riker? Back in drag and having a quick nap in between classes. Oh yes, being a teacher is just so stressful.

Give the lad a bikkie. He deserves it, the poor fella.
