Default Special Needs Teachers

Any teachers out there that can let me know what is happening.

I caught the end of Joe Duffy yesterday and heard that 1,200 special needs teachers were losing their jobs at the end of the week.

Is this true ?
If so, how can this happen ?
Why no notice ?
Why aren`t the other teachers up in arms
What happens the kids ? Less help

How is Batty surviving without the ASTI, TUI etc, going bonkers.

As far as I know the SENO (special education needs officers) carried out a review late lasrt academic year / early this year on all SNA's in all schools and recommended that this number could be removed from system. Don't know what the review process was like at second level but in our primary school - SENO observed all pupils who had an sna and their parents and teachers.

Net 500 job losses - thanks Charley

No a murmur. No plan. No action group.

We need to treat the job situation as a crisis ( and not in the same way that Minister of Wealth believes 500 people on trollies is a crisis )

We need to divert energy & resources immediately

Would the money spent on special needs not be better spent on promoting the brightest, most talented students? How much are these assistants paid, and what do they do exactly?

Well said. You're dead right.

There are some who cannot be helped, and Martino is obviously one of those.
