Hmm if only there were some other way of accumulating and ,easuring wealth, deferring payment and storing value.....oh wait a second....it's called money.

Bartercard started in 1991 (18 years ago) and to date only has 55,000 members.

More people sign up to Scientolgy each week than have signed up to this since it began.

Our money system is truly terrible. How can you think that a monetary system which has inflated by about a factor of 50 over less than a century is a good store of value?

Do you think that a money supply which is created as debt by private banks is anything other than crazy?

Attempts at monetary reform, be they at a local or national level, are to be commended and given every support possible.

No. Replacing something imperfect with something worse is never to be commended.

Suppose you're a writer and you need an MRI scan. How would the barter system work?

Suppose you have children and you want to make provision that they will have a comfortable life should you die young. In a barter system, how would you organise life assurance?

The barter system is not meant to replace money. It is a complimentary system, usual for businesses with excess capacity or stock. It works very well for many businesses.

One obviously cannot replace the entire monetary system with it, but no one is suggesting that. One should replace the debt-based monetary system with a Government-issued money system.
