Default Alison O Riordan in Sindo

She bought an apartment for E525k in 2008 in city centre and is in deep negative equity.

She could not afford an apartment on Hanover Quay at the time for E580k which in her own words is now selling for an astonishing E450k. Quite extraordinary that even now, she is getting a plug in for Hooke and McDonald who are selling the apartment in question.

Yes, Alison, I think it is extraordinary too. These apartments cannot be worth more than E200k in a normal market.

Don't know her but apart from Gene Kerrigan I delight in this sort of stuff when it comes to Sindo hacks personal pain, like Brendan O' Connor a few weeks back

PS - I think I would die happy now if Eoghan Harris went bankrupt and to jail all at once!!

She must have made the mistake of believing Brendan O'Connor when he said all the ballsey guys were buying up property during the middle of the crash.

I wouldn't judge a person by their employer; from reading a few of her articles she seems OK.
She's not the second coming of Woodward and Bernstein, but her articles don't have the nastiness you'd expect from the Sindo.

perhaps she got a few tips from former property editor of the sindo and arch property schill john o keefe who is now dean of law at a well known dublin university , that slimball a few years was pimping overseas property on an almost weekly basis for a well known irish company who have since gone bust and who were up to thier necks in shady deals with other peoples money

I think it's good for people in her position to talk about their situation. They will be in negative equity for years to come and people will be renting similar properties for less than half her mortgage. So where's the dead money in that scenario?
