A trillion dollars is equivalent to over a million dollars a day for each day since the birth of Christ! 1 trillion 1 dollar bills stacked one on top of the other would for a pile 68,000 miles high.

It is a lot of money...

Why does everyone what to describe money in physical size terms? 1 Trillion dollars can be printed on a single piece of paper and placed neatly in your wallet. The Trillion obama has invented isn't even in paper. It takes up 5 bytes of memory on a computer - exactly the same as the word 'sh1te'.

Because it is something that you can reference to.
That has been the problem with millions billions and trillions.
Very few people can quantify them without a physical reference.

In 2000 the Women's Institute in Britain gave Tony Blair the slow hand clap to demonstrate their contempt.
It was dignified, restrained and effective.Doesn't Bertie deserve the same scorn. No shouting, no abuse, no agression just a relentless slow clap whenever he speaks in public would be enough to end that man's presidential fantasy.
If you agree copy the signature in to yours and lets get the whole country slow clapping Bertie.

There can be no physical reference. Its like counting angles on the head of a pin. Its all just an imaginary construct.

A trillion dollars can take up a sports stadium or fit in your wallet, in the same way that a book could be printed to take up a stadium or sit on your desk, It just depends on the font.

Until the day you have to start paying back some of it.
I agree with you its a construct, but in order to put some kind of sense to the enormity of what it is you need a physical reference.
All the mined gold since the day man thought.
"I like the look of that " would fit in two olympic size swimming pools.

Gold is physical, so that is a good thing to think of in physical terms.

Money is an idea. How many ideas would fit in a swimming pool?
